Fabian Sandoval and Claine Plummer will join LAFC2 head coach Junio Gonazalez’s Technical Staff as assistant coaches for the 2024 MLS Next Pro season.
Sandoval joins LAFC2 with over 15 years of coaching experience, beginning at the development level. He holds a USSF ‘A’ License and has a background in scouting and game analysis. Sandoval also brings playing experience at the collegiate level with CSU Bakersfield and professional level playing in the USL.
Sandoval first joined LAFC in 2017, helping set the foundation that launched the LAFC Academy by serving as assistant coach for the club’s first team at the U-12 level, which featured current LAFC player Erik Dueñas. Most recently, Sandoval led the U-17 team while continuing his role of identifying potential Academy prospects. Over the past seven years, Sandoval has helped lead the LAFC Academy U-13 team to the 2018 Concacaf Champions League title and most recently had a third-place finish in the 2023 Generation Adidas Cup.
Sandoval’s in-depth knowledge of the Southern California youth soccer landscape played a key role in the club’s efforts to identify and develop talent for the LAFC Academy. Sandoval was instrumental in the development of academy graduates such as Dueñas, Christian Torres, Tony Leone, and Nathan Ordaz.
Plummer joins LAFC as an Assistant Coach and Goalkeeping Coach with three decades of coaching experience across the development, collegiate, and professional levels. Plummer holds an Advance National Goalkeeper Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and is a NSCAA National Coaching Instructor.
