LAFC2 and Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 played to a 2-2 draw Sunday evening atSwangard Stadium in suburban Vancouver, B.C.
After a goalless first half, Malek Mehri put WFC2 ahead with a goal in the 47th minute. LAFC2 equalized in the 84th minute thanks to a strike from Christopher Jaime.
In first minute of stoppage time, Vancouver regained the lead with a goal from Jay Herdman, but Luis Müller salvaged a draw for LAFC2 by equalizing four minutes later.
The game proceeded to a penalty shootout, where LAFC2 was defeated 7-6, missing out on the extra point per MLS NEXT Pro rules.
LAFC2 drops to 10W-6L-6D (39 points) on the season, and next takes on the Tacoma Defiance at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, Calif., on Friday, August 30. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
