LAFC2 defeated Real Monarchs 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at USC’s Rawlinson Stadium in Los Angeles.
Real Monarchs struck first in the 13th minute through Felix Ewald, but the Black & Gold responded with three unanswered goals from Matt Evans, Jude Terry, and Tommy Mihalić to take all three points at home.
After conceding early, LAFC2 responded in the 20th minute when Evans finished from the center of the box off an assist from Marius Aiyenero. The Black & Gold took the lead before halftime in the 40th minute, as Terry struck from outside the box after a setup from Evans.
LAFC2 added a third in the 56th minute when Mihalić finished from the left side of the box off an assist from DeCarlo Guerra. The Black & Gold later had a chance for a fourth goal, but Guerra’s penalty kick in the 75th minute was saved.
The two sides each finished with nine shots, but LAFC2 was sharper in front of goal, putting six shots on target to Real Monarchs’ two, while holding firm defensively to see out the result.
