Another U.S. Soccer Development Academy has come to a close. And with it, the LAFC Academy collected a nice haul of individual silverware to finish the year.
On Monday, the USSDA announced its awards for the 2018-2019 season. Categories included Player of the Year, Best XI, and Coaching Staff of the Year. In addition to the year-end awards, the USSDA also announced the awards handed out after the USSDA Playoffs held last month.
After a season in which it dominated the Boys U-15 Southwest Division, including reaching the final of the USSDA Playoffs, it's no surprise the 2004 LAFC Academy Team collected a total of three offseason awards:
Golden Ball - Defender Tony Leone
Golden Boot - Forward Christian Torres
Fair Play Award - LAFC Academy
In addition to the awards by the U-15 side, the LAFC Academy as a whole was recognized by the USSDA for its work on the touchline and in training:
Coaching Staff of the Year (West) - LAFC
