LAFC closed out the 2023 preseason with a 3-1 win over the San Diego Loyal of the USL Championship. Carlos Vela gave LAFC a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute, but the visiting Loyal equalized seven minutes before halftime to send the teams into the halftime break tied 1-1.
In the second half, Mahala Opoku, who had provided the assist on Vela's opener, restored LAFC's lead, finishing off a pass from Giorgio Chiellini. Denis Bouanga rounded out the scoring in the 83rd minute, giving LAFC their final 3-1 advantage.
LAFC kicks off the 2023 MLS season on Saturday, February 25 when they take on the LA Galaxy at the Rose Bowl.
