The Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) announced today that midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye will undergo surgery on Monday, August 6 to repair a Medial Malleolus Fracture in his left ankle. Kaye is expected to be sidelined four to six months.
“Mark has shown great progress this year and has been a key contributor throughout the first half of the season,” said EVP of Soccer Operations and General Manager John Thorrington. “We know he will work hard to come back and build on what has been a fantastic start to his LAFC career.”
Kaye, 23, was injured in the first half of LAFC’s 2-2 draw against Galaxy on July 26 at Banc of California Stadium. In his first season in MLS, the Canadian international had appeared and started all but one regular season contest for the Black & Gold, registering two goals and five assists in 1,582 minutes.
LAFC (10-5-6; 36 points) returns to league play this Sunday, August 5 (3:00 p.m. PT; FS1, ESPN LA 710 AM, KFWB 980 AM) against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena.
