LAFC announced today that the Club has signed Italian defender Lorenzo Dellavalle from LAFC2 of MLS Next Pro. Dellavalle is signed through 2026 with an option through 2027 and will be added to the roster upon receipt of his P1 Visa.
"Lorenzo is a talented young defender, mature beyond his years, and has a bright future ahead of him at LAFC,” LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington said. “Despite joining us late in the season, Lorenzo quickly demonstrated that he is ready to contribute at the first-team level and help us in our ambitions to win more trophies. We are grateful for Lorenzo’s commitment and would also like to thank his representative, Tim Lopez, for his help throughout the process.”
Dellavalle, 19, originally signed a multi-year contract with LAFC2 on Aug. 4, 2023. He made his LAFC2 debut vs. Austin FC II on Sep. 9 and appeared in three total MLS Next Pro League matches.
Born in Carmagnola, Italy, Dellavalle began his youth career with Italian giants Juventus, where he made 55 appearances and registered one goal and one assist across all competitions between the U-17 and U-19 levels.
Internationally, Dellavalle has represented the U-18 and U-19 Italian National Team, making his U-19 debut in a 3-0 win vs. Albania on Aug. 10, 2022. Overall, he has made 13 appearances (11 starts) for Italy’s U-19 team. In 2023, Dellavalle helped Italy capture the 2023 UEFA U-19 Euro Championship, starting and playing 90 minutes in all five matches of the tournament, including a 1-0 defeat of Portugal in the Final.
