Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), as part of the Red&Gold Football global network of clubs, will compete for the R&G Global Trophy in Munich, Germany, from August 4-6. LAFC will enter a team featuring the club’s elite youth prospects at the eight-team international tournament.

“It’s a massive benefit for our players to test their limits against international competition," LAFC Assistant General Manager Jordan Harvey said. "This tournament is the true embodiment of the Red & Gold Football vision, where LAFC and Bayern bridge the gap between academy and professional pathways. We want to see how our pros and academy prospects handle diverse styles and cultures, comparing player profiles and mentalities to see who's ready for the next level and how they stack up against clubs around the world."

The tournament, which will be held at the FC Bayern Campus, will be comprised of eight teams split into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will move into the Gold Round semifinals, while the remaining four will enter the Silver Round semifinals. The teams who reach the Gold Round final will compete to win the R&G Global Trophy.

LAFC begins in Group B where it will open tournament play against SV Elversberg at 5:45 p.m. CEST/8:45 a.m. PT on Aug. 4 before facing Racing de Montevideo at 5:15 p.m./8:15 a.m. and SD Aucas at 7:45 p.m./10:45 a.m. on Aug. 5. Follow @lafcacademy on Instagram or X for updates.

Group A, which follows the same schedule, consists of FC Bayern München, GC Zürich, Gambinos Stars Africa, and Jeju SK FC. The semifinals, final, and placement games will all be played on Aug. 6.

Rosters will be capped at 18 players and limited to those born in 2008 or after. Games will be played with two 20-minute halves and allow for unlimited substitutions during one break in play or during the five-minute halftime.

Teams will be ranked in the group stage by 1) number of points, 2) goal difference, 3) head-to-head, 4) number of goals scored. In case of a draw after 40 minutes in the knockout and placement rounds, the match will be decided by penalty shootout (three players each followed by “sudden-death” rounds).
