LAFC will kick off its participation in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup with a road match against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the first leg of the home-and-away Round One series on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. LAFC will host the second leg at BMO Stadium the following Tuesday, February 25. Kickoff for both matches is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT. Information about tickets and broadcast availability will be announced soon.
The winner of the series between LAFC and Colorado, based on aggregate scoring, will advance to the Round of 16 to play the Columbus Crew. The match window for the first leg of the Round of 16 is March 4-6, which the Round One winner will host before returning to Columbus for the second leg on March 11.
Currently ranked sixth in the Concacaf Club Ranking Index, the Black & Gold earned its third ever qualification to the 60th edition of the Champions Cup by advancing past the Rapids in the semifinals to reach the Leagues Cup 2024 Final. LAFC advanced to the Final of the 2020 and 2023 Concacaf Champions League Tournament, finishing as the runner-up both times.
COMPETITION FORMAT
The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup will continue to be played in a direct elimination knockout stage format, including five rounds and 27 clubs. The first four rounds, Round One, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals, all include home and away play, while the Final, where the region's Champion is crowned, is played as a single-leg match on a weekend date.
Of the 27 clubs participating, 22 will begin play in Round One, and five will receive a bye to the Round of 16. The clubs' qualification process was divided by region – North America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
COMPETITION DATES
The 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup will start with Round One. These eleven home-and-away series will be played in February, followed by the Round of 16 in March, the Quarterfinals and semifinals in April, and the single-leg Final on Sunday, June 1.
