LAFC has transferred forward David Martínez to FC Midtjylland of the Danish Superliga.

Martínez, 20, joined LAFC in February 2024 from Monagas SC of Venezuela’s First Division. In his first season with the club, Martínez appeared in 17 regular-season MLS matches, starting four and registering four goals and two assists in 447 minutes played. He became the second-youngest goalscorer in LAFC history on March 30, 2024, with his 76th-minute strike against the Colorado Rapids and helped the Black & Gold earn the 2024 U.S. Open Cup trophy, contributing a goal in the quarterfinal round of the tournament.
The young attacker continued to come into his own in 2025, seeing meaningful minutes with 42 appearances across all competitions, including featuring in the club’s FIFA Club World Cup Play-In match against Club América and starting two of the team’s three Club World Cup matches. He was also responsible for the assist on the winning goal of LAFC’s 1-0 first-round victory over Colorado in the 2025 edition of the Concacaf Champions Cup and started all three Leagues Cup matches, notching a brace in the group-stage finale win over Tigres of Liga MX. In total, he registered six goals and six assists in 1,947 minutes.
This season, Martínez had already established a new career high in goals scored in MLS competition, finding the back of the net six times across 18 appearances in league play. He was a key contributor to the team’s run to the Champions Cup semifinals with four goals in eight total appearances (four starts).
Prior to joining the Black & Gold, the El Tigre, Venezuela, native made his senior debut for Monagas at 16 years old against CD Everton in the Copa Libertadores on February 22, 2022. He quickly established himself as an impact player for Monagas, making 38 appearances (24 starts) and recording six goals and five assists across all competitions, including five Copa Libertadores appearances.
Internationally, Martínez made his Senior National Team debut at the age of 17 for Venezuela during a friendly match against Guatemala on June 18, 2023. He has made seven appearances for the senior team, including starting a World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay in June 2025. Martínez has also represented Venezuela at the U-17, U-20 and U-23 levels, registering 27 combined appearances across all competitions for Venezuela’s youth teams.
