Major League Soccer’s new official anthem, created by world-renowned composer Hans Zimmer for the league’s 25th Season, is available beginning today on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Deezer, Amazon Music, Pandora and TIDAL.
The MLS anthem album cover for today’s release of the track was designed by Marvin Chavez, an avid LAFC supporter who earned the honor by winning the League’s contest giving fans the opportunity to submit designs for the cover. In addition to having his artwork accompany the anthem on all platforms, Chavez also has won a trip for two to the 2021 MLS All-Star Game.
“I wanted the MLS anthem cover to not only reflect the epic Hans Zimmer score, but also what MLS means to the fans,” said Chavez. “The 25th season crest specifically spoke to me, and I decided to use that as a pivot in this design. The commonality in the music score and the MLS 25th design reflect dynamic motion and boldness, and I really wanted the design to convey that but also with a fun twist.”
Zimmer is recognized as one of the world’s most innovative musical talents and has scored more than 200 projects, which have grossed a combined $28 billion worldwide. Most recently, Zimmer scored THE LION KING live-action remake, for which he received a Grammy® nomination for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media. Upcoming, Zimmer will compose the music for WONDER WOMAN 1984 (Warner Bros.), set to be released October 2; the latest James Bond film NO TIME TO DIE, which will be released November 20; DUNE (Warner Bros.) set to be released December 18; TOP GUN: MAVERICK (Paramount), which will be released July 2, 2021; and THE SPONGEBOB MOVIE: SPONGE ON THE RUN (Paramount), which will be also released in 2021. Zimmer has won an Academy Award®, two Golden Globes®, three Grammys®, an American Music Award and a Tony® Award.
