The Black & Gold remain undefeated at home at Banc of California in 2022, as they beat Orange County SC 5-1 in U.S. Open Cup action on Wednesday night, advancing into the Round of 32. It was the most goals LAFC had scored since Sept. 20, 2020 when they beat Vancouver 6-0, and the ninth time in their history they have scored 5 or more goals.

On a short turnaround, LAFC travels to Cincinnati for the first time in MLS history, and they lead MLS with 17 goals scored and a stingy defense as well.

FC Cincinnati is known as a high-intensity team, and after a scoreless draw last week is now unbeaten in three of their last five matches.

FC Cincinnati (2-4-1, 7 points) have scored eight goals, with five them coming from forward Brandon Vazquez.

FC CINCINNATI IN-DEPTH

Cincinnati usually runs a 3-4-1-2 formation with a strong attacking group in Brenner, Souza da Silva, Luciano Acosta, and Brandon Vazquez spearheading the offense. In addition Dominique Badji is known for creativity and mobility on the left side and pushing forward into the opponents box. Defensively look for Cincinnati to challenge LAFC throughout with a structured and intentional press. Former LAFC assistant coach Kenny Arena is now an assistant on the Cincinnati staff after spending four years on the sideline for the Black & Gold.

LAFC WILL WIN IF

Continue to play the game the Black & Gold way – with a determined focus on breaking the press while playing through Cincinnati and looking to expose their defense in transition.

FC CINCINNATI CAN WIN IF

Their formation can create problems for LAFC on defense, and if one of their dangerous forwards gets off to a fast start. Badji can make a big impact if he continues to create opportunities in transition.
