Minnesota United FC IN-DEPTH
Minnesota runs a 4-2-3-1 formation with Emanuel Reynoso, Robin Lod, and Luis Amarilla leading a high-pressured offense. Lod leads the club with three goals, while Reynoso has been a staple for the club, with two goals and four assists in eight games played. Amarillo also plays aggressive at the forward position with the help of the Loons talented midfielders making excellent passes that have been creating high percentage shots. Minnesota sits above the league average in high press shots, while also holding opponents to just six total goals this season. This is a team that is dangerous in transition and great on set pieces. So far in 2022, they have proven that they know how to apply pressure on defense to generate shots in the box.
LAFC WILL WIN IF:
Continue to play the game the Black & Gold way…LAFC’s main goal will be to contain Reynoso while solving the high pressure attack from Minnesota. Defensively, LAFC needs to apply pressure to win the ball high up the field toward the opponents box while defending their set pieces well.
Minnesota United FC CAN WIN IF:
Reynoso gets off to a great start, utilizing the high-pressure offense and creating problems for the LAFC defense. If they can create set pieces and generate shots in the box – this will hurt LAFC.
