LAFC set a new club record by recording its 13th shutout of the season, defeating Red Bull New York 2-0 at BMO Stadium on Wednesday night. Jude Terry and Armindo Sieb scored on either side of halftime, while the Black & Gold defense limited the Red Bulls to just eight shots, only one of which was on target.

With the win, LAFC remains in third place in the Western Conference with an 11W-7L-7D record for 40 points.

Terry scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 21st minute, tallying his first-ever goal at BMO Stadium to give the home side a 1-0 lead. Yevhen Cheberko started the attack by winning possession for LAFC on the left wing and quickly playing the ball forward to Son Heung-Min at the corner of the area. Son got past his defender and hit a left-footed shot that was saved by New York goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, but Terry was first to the rebound, side-footing his shot from the edge of the area into the net to put his team in front.

LAFC created five total shots on goal in the first half to New York’s one, but could not add to its 1-0 edge by halftime.

Midfielder Igor Jesus entered the match for Terry in the 60th minute, returning to the field for the first time since suffering a knee injury on August 23, 2025.

LAFC created several chances in the second half, including in the 78th minute, when Son hit the crossbar with a left-footed blast from near the six-yard box.

LAFC held its 1-0 lead until second-half stoppage time when Sieb put the game out of reach. Cheberko and Ryan Hollingshead combined to get in behind the New York defense before Hollingshead picked out Sieb at the top of the box. The former Bayern Munich forward took one touch before firing a left-footed shot past Horvath for his first goal in an LAFC shirt, giving the home side a 2-0 victory.

The Black & Gold will be back in action on Saturday, September 12, when the club begins a stretch of three consecutive road games by traveling to the Midwest to take on Sporting Kansas City. That game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on Apple TV, as well as Coupang Play and SPOTV for fans in Korea. Local radio coverage will be available on 710 AM ESPN, the ESPN LA app, KYPA 1230 AM (Korean), and 980 AM La Mera Mera (Spanish).

With the win, LAFC is now 11W-7L-7D for 40 points this season and 17-8-11 in all competitions.

At home this season, LAFC is 8-3-2 in the league and 12-3-5 in all competitions.

LAFC has kept a clean sheet in 11 of the 20 home games that it has played this year in all competitions, including eight league matches.

Since the start of the 2025 season, LAFC is a perfect 6-0-0 at home against Eastern Conference opposition, outscoring its opponents 15-0 in those six games. This year, the club defeated Inter Miami, Orlando City, and the Red Bulls by a combined score of 11-0.

All-time, LAFC is 3-0-1 at home against the Red Bulls.

With the win, LAFC is now 11-0-2 in MLS when scoring first and 16-0-3 in all competitions.

LAFC is now unbeaten in four straight, going 1-0-3 in that time, while the victory also snapped the club’s six-game winless streak in the league.

Hugo Lloris made one save for his 12th clean sheet of the season and the team’s 13th. The 13 shutouts are the most ever in a single season for LAFC, and two more than any other club in the league this season.

Lloris now has 35 regular-season shutouts since joining LAFC ahead of the 2024 season. His 12 this year equals his total from the 2024 season.

Jude Terry gave LAFC a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute with his second goal of the season. He is now second in LAFC history for goals scored by a Homegrown Player, behind only Nathan Ordaz who had eight goals in 69 appearances for the club.

Terry’s goal tonight was his first-ever goal at BMO Stadium.

After making his LAFC debut on Saturday at Real Salt Lake, Armindo Sieb made his home debut for the club tonight, entering the game in the 60th minute.

In second-half stoppage time, Sieb scored his first goal in MLS. He is the 13th different player to score an MLS goal for LAFC this season and the 15th different player to score in all competitions.

His goal was LAFC’s 11th of the year from outside the area, tied for the most in MLS this season.

Ryan Hollingshead and Yevhen Cheberko were each credited with assists on Sieb’s goal. It was the first of the season for each and the first in MLS for Cheberko. Hollingshead now has 25 assists in his MLS career, with nine of those coming in an LAFC shirt.

Igor Jesus entered the game in the 60th minute, replacing Jude Terry. Now in his second season with the club, this was Jesus' first appearance in just over a year, having suffered a knee injury against FC Dallas on August 23, 2025.

Son Heung-Min had a game-high eight shots, equaling the most in a game in his MLS career. He now has 16 shots in his last two games at BMO Stadium, having also recorded eight shots on August 22 against Portland.
