LAFC snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Sunday evening behind goals from Ryan Hollingshead and Cristian Arango. With its 19-7-3 record, LAFC holds the top spot in the Western Conference and is tied with the Philadelphia Union (60 points) in the race for the Supporters’ Shield.
After a scoreless first half, Ryan Hollingshead broke the deadlock in the 49th minute scoring his fifth goal of the sason. Cristian Arango added to the lead with a goal in the 68thminute to seal the victory for the home team.
The victory marked first-year head coach Steve Cherundolo’s 19th of the season moving him into a tie for second-all time in MLS history for wins by a first-year head coach, and the most of any first-year head coach since 1998.
LAFC will head back to the Lone Star State for a road game on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they face FC Dallas. That game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast locally on KCOP13, Estrella TV and ESPN+. It will also be available on the radio on ESPN 710 AM, the ESPN LA App, and 980 AM La Mera La Mera.
