The Los Angeles Football Club was honored at the 2019 Los Angeles Sports Spectacular on Monday, July 15, receiving the Community Spirit Award for the Club’s dedication and impact to the city and for continuing its goal to be a Force For Good in Los Angeles.
LAFC players Mark Anthony Kaye, Tyler Miller, Lee Nguyen, Pablo Sisniega, Walker Zimmerman and Club President Tom Penn were on hand at the exclusive reception and program.
“From the beginning, the people who founded our Club had the idea that we wanted to be the true Heart of Los Angeles and capture what this Community is all about,” Zimmerman said. “We have been trying to do that and that is a tribute to our supporters and the vision that everyone involved with the Club has had to make that happen.
Hosted by Snoop Dogg, the Sports Spectacular has raised more than $27 million for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center since 1986. All funds raised in 2019 were for the benefit of the Sports Spectacular Diabetes & Obesity Wellness & Research Center.
Past Sports Spectacular honorees include Muhammad Ali, Tony Gonzalez, Dr. Jerry Buss, Chris Paul, Lindsay Vonn, Dana White, Chloe Kim, Steve Nash, Troy Polamalu, Amy Purdy, John Wooden, and Kobe Bryant, amongst many others.
