LAFC Loans Defender Mamadou Fall To FC Barcelona Of Spain's La Liga

LAFC announced that the Club has loaned defender Mamadou Fall to FC Barcelona of Spain’s La Liga. The initial loan period, which begins immediately, runs through June 2024 with option to purchase pending registration and receipt of his international Transfer Certificate (ITC).

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Mamadou to continue in his development at one of the top clubs in the world,” said Co-President and GM John Thorrington. “All at LAFC are aware of Fall’s incredible potential and this next step is testament to his development here at LAFC. We wish him all the best in his continued progress at Barcelona.”

Fall, returned to on July 7 after completing a one-year loan with La Liga’s Villareal CF. During that 12-month load period, Fall registered three goals in 1,988 minutes played for Villareal B. Mamadou also made two appearances for Villareal’s senior squad including his lone appearance in the Copa Del Rey vs St. Amalian on Nov. 12, 2022, and his La Liga debut with Villareal during the 1-0 win vs. Girona.

Fall joined LAFC at the age of 18 on June 4, 2021. The Senegal native appeared in a total of 36 regular season matches for the Black & Gold (30 starts) over two and half seasons, scoring five goals. Overall, Fall made 42 appearances across all competitions including six goals and one assist.

In 2021, Fall also made eight appearances and played a total of 634 minutes while on loan with LAFC’s USL affiliate club, the Las Vegas Lights.  

Internationally, Fall was named to the Senegal U17 youth national team in 2019.

TRANSACTION: Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) loans defender Mamadou Fall to La Liga side FC Barcelona on an initial loan period through June 2024 with an option to purchase. Fall will join Barcelona pending registration and receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
